During the first 18 days of August 2010, the Outdoor Education and Global Studies Programs will be going to Mali, a French speaking, predominantly Muslim country located in West Africa. We will fly into Bamako, spending the first few days touring the city. From there we will visit the World Heritage sites of Djenne and the Dogon cliff villages. Travelling overland, we will camp on the outskirts of small villages or sleep at small “rooftop” hotels as we make our way through the country. During the day we will hike the streets and countryside of Mali, exploring the culture, the history, the art, the flora and the fauna of this fascinating country. Upon arrival back in Bamako, students will stay two nights with Malian families. This trip is led by Jim Barry and Laura Marion.
